      Position Based In: Karachi - Pakistan

      Professional Qualification: M.Sc Applied Chemistry/ Engineer

      Professional Experience: About 6 to 8 years’ work experience with safety/quality department

      Job Descriptions / Responsibilities:

      • Ensuring that the required procedures and processes for Health, Safety & Environment System are established implemented & maintained, in accordance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001 & ISO-14001.
      • To identify / suggest / implement new methods / procedure for improvement of Health, Safety & Environment system and to investigate the Accidents especially lost time accidents to identify its root causes, corrective actions and preventive actions.
      • To plan and arrange the training of various levels of work force (including contract workers) according to the needs of various departments, with an objective to increase safety consciousness in employees & zero incidents.
      • Co-ordinate with all concerned departments for correct implementation of the procedures as per OHSAS /EMS standards (PTW / Risk Assessments / basic Safety Awareness, Safe Crane Operations, Annual Environment Reviews).
      • Maintain log book by entering all activities regarding accidents /incidents occurring at the premises on a daily basis to ensure proper record keeping which will facilitate reference checking in the future
      • Collect all relevant information from departments, sections and security gate, including ambulance movement, regarding recent accidents/incidents and ensure timely record keeping and accuracy of information to be utilized at the time of investigation.
      • Maintain high coordination with all departmental heads which results in flow of information regarding the effective of safety measures being utilized and of any possible setbacks faced simultaneously.
      • Conduct risk assessment in consultation with departmental Managers by visiting the production floors and identification of hazards in the work process and formulate plans to counter such hazards.
      • Conduct crane operation training, in consultation with relevant Department Heads, for crane operators to instruct them on safe operations so as to minimize crane incidents. Assess the effectiveness of training by interviewing/testing the participating operators and validate accordingly.
      • Assist in internal & external audit as per audit schedule in compliance with OHSAS 18001 / ISO-4001 and make all necessary arrangement so that audit can be conducted efficiently.
      • Raise Corrective Action Request (CAR) in event of non compliance identified during the internal & external audit exercise, defining the root case of the non compliance and forward the approved form to the department head so that corrective action can be taken immediately. Carry out any other duty as and when assigned by immediate superior.
      • Supervise maintenance of safety equipment to ensure consistency in performance and availability at time of emergency. Raise purchase requisition for safety equipment and forward for approval.
      • Periodic inspection of fire fighting / First Aid Equipments (i.e. fire extinguishers / fire hydrants / fire hoses, fire Buckets, fire boxes and first aid Boxes) & to ensure that the log of Accidents, PTWs, PPEs, Safety Equipment, is kept and updated regularly & managing the collecting, storing and analyzing, tracking and reporting of HSE performance data (e.g. accident report, findings, audit actions , NCRs etc).
      • Develop a Monthly and quarterly Accident Analysis Report and provide details of all accidents /incidents occurred during the past month and submit to management for review and corrective measures advice and file for record keeping.
